Mr. Morphew is an attorney at Sorling Northrup who is engaged with Goodwin, Hamann & Associates to apprise the Firm of the latest legislative trends, promote their governmental relations and ensure the Firm stays on the cutting edge of the law. Mr. Morphew concentrates his practice in the areas of government relations, administrative law, election law.
He is a graduate of the University of Iowa and The John Marshall Law School. Prior to law school, he spent three years with the Illinois House of Representatives as a research analyst for the Research and Appropriations Staff of Speaker Michael J. Madigan. While on the Speaker’s staff, he advised legislative leaders and legislators from the House Democratic Caucus on policy issues, and developed an extensive knowledge of the Illinois legislative and budget-making processes. His duties included analyzing the purpose, scope and impact of legislation in the areas of transportation, agriculture, environmental regulation, and economic development. He also assisted with coordination of several campaigns for election to the Illinois General Assembly.
While at John Marshall, Mr. Morphew continued to focus on issues related to state government, completing courses such as Legislative Drafting, Election Law, and Illinois Constitutional Law, and was awarded the Samuel W. Witwer Award for Excellence in the Study of the Illinois Constitution.
